Master Bedroom Upgrade

I recently got to work with a great couple on their Master Bedroom. Their daughter called and said her parents were struggling to love their Master Bedroom. They had moved in over a year prior, but like many of us, were busy making sure others and other rooms were taken care of first.
They were ready for a new bedroom set and paint color, but knew they needed more help than just that.
Their Master bedroom had two adjoining rooms, one large with floor to ceiling windows on one wall, and one small cove space with Victorian corbels. They had placed their bed in the smaller room. The placement left them with a huge room with nothing in it and a very tight space to move around their bed.
The first change they knew they wanted was paint color, they knew the green they wanted, so it was very easy to work with what they loved. Once the room was painted, we moved the bed to the largest wall so you can move around the space with ease. They knew they wanted a space to come relax in the evenings, so we transformed the smaller room into a lounge space.

I filled the space with the loveseat and ottoman, because comfort was the top priority here. And then added a floor lamp to lighten the tiny room. The lamp I chose had the arm coming from the side of the base, this helped us maximize the space and purchase a wider loveseat.

I hung art and curtains. For the curtains, I hung them as high and wide as I could to elevate the entire look. They cost slightly more to order wider and longer curtains along with a longer, stronger curtain rod, but the effect is well worth it.
In the end the biggest thing I did was help guide the couple to the scale of furniture to fill their space appropriately and advised on their ideal furniture placement. Most people think when they hire an interior designer that they need to be ready to purchase expensive decor and spend a large amount of money. That's not true with me. Another interior design myth is that every designer will design spaces in the current trends or their personal style. This beautiful Master Bedroom not only showcases the transformative power of a few small changes, but also shows how versatile I love to be as a designer. It's your space, let me help you make it amazing for YOU.
